Fishing in Dying River Ravi

River Ravi one a gushing and flushing river is now dying. Flowing through the mountains and plains of India and Pakistan. River Ravi originated from the Himalayan mountains and many small rivers join it on the way. But this river is dying specially on Pakistan side as its water right is with India according to Indus Water Treaty. Fishing is almost diminishing in this river and fishermen have to travel and row long distances in search of fish. This is a picture from the river stretch near Sahiwal city in Punjab Pakistan.

Rivers look beautiful in the evening and are landscape photographers paradise. In glowing evening light these rivers become more photogenic and if you got a boat at the sunset then the results become stunning. As a landscape photographer I have visited many places and have seen many rivers. but this evening was very different and light hues were very unusual. Th blue boat was looking as specially arranged for the scene. The sunset was so charming that I started gazing at at it ignoring the fact that it could be a dangerous act. All was set before the sun got perfect position on the boat and i stated shooting. It was just a pleasure and outcome pictures were outclass. Low light photography in my personal opinion is a work of fine art. Keeping the control on colors and exposure in low light is really a tough job and your artistic vision can produce some heart touching pictures in this situation.

These people were going back to their villages after day long work across the river. They just crossed the river on a boat and I shoot them keeping sun in the backdrop. Life of these people is busy and tough. They have to fetch fuel for burning in the form of twigs and logs while returning home.
