You can try shooting hand held but that needs a lot of experience. The advantage of handheld is the agility you can show while following the butterfly from flower to flower. The disadvantage is the chances of shake and blurry picture. Try to focus on the eye of the butterfly and forget about the rest. Butterfly must be captures in some dynamic and graceful pose.
